FAQ

  • Can anyone be hypnotised?

Yes, so long as the participant is willing with the exception of certain pharmaceuticals which are cross checked so that they can get into a relaxed state of mind. if you are under the influence of any substances then your therapist will reschedule or refuse service.

  • Are our sessions confidential?

Yes, absolutely your privacy is protected at all times.

  • Do I lose control during hypnosis?

Contrary to common misconceptions, hypnosis requires the client to be 100% co-operative. As the famous Milton Erickson described hypnosis trance as “inward focus of attention” to the advantage of the subject. Trance is experienced everyday as a natural common state such as deep thought, meditation, intensely listening to music and daydreaming. When you think about yourself in these states you recognise that you are always in complete control. Clinical Hypnosis is not like what you may see on stage, there are no theatrics. In fact for those that may have concerns about falling asleep, your clinician will most likely lighten your state because transformative change predominantly happens when in an ‘awake’ state.

  • How many sessions are required?

Typically 4 - 6. However for deeper and more complex requirements more may be required. Every individual’s unique needs are considered and our therapists tailor each and every session.

  • Can Hypnosis be a ' Quick fix' one session option?

Whilst we have treated clients and patients who have for example said they were able to quit smoking in one session most do relapse and we find this is because they may not have recovered from a more serious mental health condition such as chronic depression or PTSD which can cause a heightened state of stress. Especially with smoking and vaping even though a small proportion may become abstinent after one session evidence shows that only 23% are still non smokers suggesting that 77% of clients needed further therapy to address more than surface level symptoms to continue living as non smokers.

  • What is Rapid Transformational Therapy?

RTT is based on the science of neuroplasticity combined with principles of hypnotherapy, psychotherapy and neuroscience. We work with clients to build a unique therapeutic approach to create pathways to have clients moving forward with their lives in most cases on a faster trajectory than talk therapy.
